It has been said many times over that detective work is a large part of the genealogical research process. I am sure my readers will agree. But, today, this photo story is worth a thousand marketing options.
In addition to my cemetery kit, mirror, and husband, I often wear brightly colored t shirts designed by Jimmy Kavanagh to help locate my whereabouts in the cemetery as I race around finding gravestone after gravestone to photograph. Go ahead, laugh at me. It's fine. As an educator, I have long been know to wear "thematic" clothing to attract the attention of many a tired teacher in an after school workshop. Trust me, people remember you.
But, when my latest issue (July) of Family Tree Magazine arrived in my mailbox, I exclaimed, "OMG, Tim Firkowski was asked to pose for the cover! As a fellow geek, Tim's personality leads well to this type of marketing himself and his services. He's the currently known as our "fearless leader" as President of NEAPG (New England Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists) . This is great and this is what 21st century genealogists look like. Of course, many are only like this "on the inside".
Well, you don't have to take my word for it, take a look at Family Tree Magazine's blog post! Tim rocks!
