Dudley Wheeler STEWART was born in 1822 in North Stonington, CT, the youngest son of Edward STEWART and his wife Rebecca NOYES. He was a selectman in his town and ran the general store. He and his wife built a very nice house and lived there several years until they moved to Westerly, RI.
He was my grandfather's grandfather. When my grandmother gave me this photo and the one of his wife Eliza Fish DENISON, and told me (at about age 8) about them, I was very surprised to hear that my grandparents had grandparents.
Certainly this marked the beginning of my interest in genealogy.
