Ten Year Blogiversary

Ten Year Blogiversary

It has been ten years since I began by gravestone hunting adventure and I have learned so much about the people, the families and the locations in which I have taken photographs. So many have helped me along the way, that I couldn't even begin to thank those who taught me and supported me.

When I moved from the location when I began, Find a Grave was just beginning to take off. People who were not experts began to show their enthusiasm for recording cemeteries. Where I live now is a very historical area and is where my husband's ancestors who lived in New England are buried. I set out finding and visiting those graveyards here and photographing so many of his family stones. Hardly any of them were posted at Find a Grave and now most of them have been photographed. It seems like a miracle.

People I meet are so surprised that I don't "do charts" for others and that I take photos of gravestones. They want to know how I make money at genealogy. I could write a book about their reactions to the notion of being paid and how much to charge. If genealogy isn't fun for you then you should find something new to do.

Ten years is a long time. I probably can't do ten more but it will be fun trying.
