Nathan Sands FISH (Simeon8, Sands7, Nathan6, Nathan5, Samuel4, John3, Alice2, John1) son of Simeon FISH and his wife Eliza Roe RANDALL was born at Groton, CT, April 11, 1828 and died at 87 years in the "Masonic Home at Wallingford, CT" on 8 Oct 1915.

He was the husband of Jennette Morgan. "He was in the grocery business for many years, starting with is father; lived for a time at Poquonoc, Conn."

Lydia W. WILLIAMS was born 21 Mar 1829 and died 8 Oct 1896.

William and Lydia had four children: Ida, Walter, Charles and Mary.

Alden "was b. on the old Fish homestead at Groton, Conn; d. there, age 90...lifelong member of the Baptish Church, and Captain of the Militia."

Capt. Nathan Gallup FISH [Photo from Mystic Seaport] (Sands7, Nathan6, Nathan5, Samuel4, John3, Alice2, John1) was born and died in Groton. (see monument for birth and death dates)

The Mystic Seaport: Museum of America and the Sea holds his papers in Collection #252. It says in part that Nathan "was one of Mystic's most successful shipping investors. From 1825 to 1845 he led a seafaring life, eventually commanding the sloop PRUDENCE, schooners CREOLE and HUDSON, and brigs EMELINE and LION. Upon retiring from the sea, he opened a retail business in Mystic, specializing in outfitting and provisioning vessels. He also operated a large coal yard in connection with his store."

Nathan married Emeline F. MINER on 9 January 1833.

Emeline Frances MINER, daughter of Dr. Owen Miner, Sr. (1762-1851) and his wife Elizabeth AVERY (1768-1837 who was the daughter of Col. Ebenezer AVERY and Phebe DENISON) was born 18 Nov 1805 in Stonington, New London, CT. She married Natan Gallup FISH on 9 January 1833. She died (on her wedding anniversary) a widow on 9 Jan 1871.

Nathan and Emeline had Susan Lester, Helen Miner, Simeon Gallup, John Owen, Horace Walworth, Phebe Miner, Roswell Walter and an infant who died at birth.
