This is the memorial stone for two young cousins who went out on the ice on the Mystic River on Monday, February 3, 1800 and drowned.
Daniel6 (Isaac5, Daniel4, Daniel3. John2, George1) DENISON b. 26 April 1791 In Stonington, CT was the son of Isaac DENISON, Sr. and his wife Eunice WILLIAMS.Jeremiah H. DENISON b. 1796 was the son of Beebe DENISON and his wife Hannah CHESEBROUGH.
The Courier [Norwich Courier, The Chelsea Courier] a Norwich, CT newspaper, reported this on 12 Feb 1800 (Vol IV, issue 12, page 3]
"On Monday the 3rd, inft [inst. meaning same month; this immediate month], two boys, fons [sons] of Mr. Ifacc Denifon [Isaac Denison] and Mr. Beebe Denifon [Denison], of Stonington, fell through the Ice, on Myftic [Mystic] river and were drowned. They were both ages 10 years, and were coufins [cousins]. Their bodies have not yet been found."
