Wouldn't it be wonderful if every gravestone had such nice words for the life of someone buried there?
Ira C. NOYES, son of Cyrus NOYES and his wife Bridget Gallup DENISON.
Ira was born 5 June 1859 and died in 1922. As Ira never married the census lists him living with his father's household (1880 census) after his mother died in 1876, with his sister Annie and brother Everett. In 1880, Ira was a clerk in a post office. In the 1900 census, after both parents have died, he is a boarder in his sister Jane and brother in law's James Ryley's household. He is employed as a railroad laborer. In the 1910 census, Ira is still living with his sister and her children and works in the banking industry. In 1920, (two years before his death) he is a clerk in a bank.
There is no one left to remember Ira but his gravestone says it all. I always give him a friendly hello and smile when I pass by his grave.
