Sheaf of Wheat

Catching my eye in the cemetery on this cast zinc gravestone is the symbol of a sheaf of wheat. Appropriate for the rural cemetery and for many of the farmers who lie resting here, wheat is a symbol for a person who has lived a long life.

Hi Midge, Gee, that monument is in great condition. I had noticed that in a lot of places in California, many cemeteries have very neglected and weathered stones (those upright stones, that is).

Because it is cast zinc, it is metal and it weathers well. The panels on each side are chosen individually and bolted on. I think they look lovely and new all the time.
