Teaching with Cemeteries: Examine Nearby Landmarks

Wordless Wednesday

Not used as a school any longer, this is the Pilot Grove School near the Hillside Cemetery in Stow. Even without looking it up, you can see that the family must have donated land for the building of a school that may have changed the name of the cemetery when this building was built.

Hello, and thank you for preserving those who came and went before us. I came upon your wonderful postings as I was reserching some of my ancestors buried at Hilside cemetary.

The picture of old Pilot Grove School caught my interest, as I have not been able to find out anything about this building.

What might you know about it? What grades did it serve and when was it open? What is it used for now.

Thanks for any insight you might have...

Curiosity is a consuming thing.

I moved here to Stow about 2 years ago. I have taken some photos of gravestones at Hillside.

The Pilot Grove school is no longer in use. It is across the street from the Pilot Grove Farm which is still a working farm.
