I have been hearing a lot from my gravestone photography friends that there are cemeteries that are prohibiting cameras.
Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, Rhode Island has a no photography policy. I thought you'd like to see the page of the cemetery rules.
What do you think of this? Do they have the right to "protect the lot owners"?

That seems to me to be a fairly hard rule to enforce. To use the excuse of identity theft doesn't really make sense. Why would someone taking a photo interrupt someone else?
Hi Midge, The cemetery rules sheet does state that people wanting to take photographs of graves for personal use could apply to the management for permission. I would imagine that if a person was a family member or direct descendant and lived quite a ways away, permission would perhaps be given for still pictures (not to be published).
Is this because of people who feel they have all right to their ancestor's photograph's on Find-a-grave? Some feel they are the one and only descendant and don't realize there might be countless cousins?
