Live to Die; die to Live, a photo by midgefrazel on Flickr.
"Live to die and die to live."
An interesting epitaph can be found on a gravestone in the Old Common Cemetery in Marlboro, Middlesex, MA. I did find a reference to this phrase here, but I am not sure what the gravestone carver or the family had in mind when it was put on this gravestone. When I have researched this gravestone, perhaps I will be able to figure it out, but for now it is just another "epic" saying for us gravestone photographers.

Hi Midge, Nice post today as usual. My take on this is that the epitaph reflects the Christian view that the deceased had (and that of the community of the time, as well).
