Genealogy software like RootsMagic 5 makes relationship charts easily. This one shows the cousin relationship between the two descendant families This took about 2 minutes to create.

2 minutes with RootsMagic5?!?!? Wow! That IS magic! I've been using Family Tree Heritage Deluxe since 2003 when I started the project because it was the ONLY family history program available in stores in my area of New England at the time. (Since then we move to NC.) I have downloaded the free trial version of Legacy...but 2 minute relationship charting! That's amazing. I'm going to have to rethink this. :-)

Of course, I do this quite often so I didn't even have to look it up. I use Legacy and RootsMagic because I love software. I used to use PAF and Family Tree Maker but now I have given up PAF and use Family Tree Maker only for direct descendant charts which I need for lineage work.

RootsMagic does that too but it takes more steps.

Thanks for your comments. I was hoping I wasn't boring everyone.

Even the shareware Cumberland Family Tree software that I use as my main program, does this. It can create a quick screen view of relationships or a report that can be printed or saved. I also use other programs such as RootsMagic, Legacy, TMG, etc for their better formatting of some reports.

Never boring, Midge. I use both Legacy and RootsMagic as well, for different reasons. There's definitely no one perfect program!
