Today, 7 Jan 2010 would have been my mother's 94th birthday. She died in 2002. She never wanted to grow old. I am beginning to think she was right.

This photo of her taken at Briggs Beach in Rhode Island in 1940 shows her gazing adoringly at a college boyfriend. She did not know my father yet.

If only we could remember that our parents were once young and carefree...
