Husband of Nellie D. HOXIE, Frank Ernest BELDEN was born 6 Dec 1851 and died 15 Apr 1928. His first wife was Alice M. KING and she was the mother of his only child Christine E. BELDEN who was born in 1878.
In 1870, he is nineteen a bookkeeper living with his parents, Seabury and Celestia in Hartford so he was probably born in Hartford even though the family lived in Middletown, CT in the 1860 census when he was nine. By June1880, he is already a widower with a small child and on 13 November of that year, he marries Nellie. This marriage is recorded in the Denison Genealogy on page 458.
Nellie and Frank move around in the Hartford area from 1900 to 1920. In the 1900 census, it shows that they have no children together and he is working in the manufacture of firearms. In 1910 and 1920, he is the President of a Water Filter Co. As you saw from Nellie's gravestone, she outlived him by many years and passed away in 1941. They are buried in the Hoxie section of Elm Grove Cemetery.
The researcher who is working with me has a great photo of Frank. He's a dashing man with a big mustache. She also has a photo of his daughter Christine as a little girl. It is a great motivator to have a photo to look at while you are searching through the census records for information about a person's life.
I discovered that Frank had a sister who married and lived here in Bridgewater, MA and perhaps is buried here so next time I go adventuring in my local cemeteries I will look for them.
