Deacon Edmund Rice, a photo by midgefrazel on Flickr.
This weekend is the Rice reunion. Hubs is the Rice descendant and we attended this society event for the first time last year. These folks have a great society with a lot of information on a Web page, a Facebook presence and a Twitter following.
I took this photo of the Dea. Edmund Rice memorial gravestone and they loved it so much, the put it on the Wikipedia page.
They feature a bus tour of the various sites (including the North Cemetery) in nearby Wayland, Sudbury and Framingham plus a dinner on Friday night. On Saturday, they host a reunion in a hotel (no bugs or porta-pottie, thank you!) with a great lunch and a series of interesting talks.
They have posted much information about their research. It is well documented with evidence and mentions of the lack of evidence where it is appropriate.
I even found a connection from people in my family in North Stonington to a minister who was a Rice descendant. It's a small world!

Wonderful photo, Midge! My ex-husband's mother was a Rice, going back to Thomas RICE, 3rd son of Deacon Edmund RICE. Unfortunately, while he likes that I found all this info (for our kids!), he's not too interested, so none of us will likely be at their reunion. Too bad - it sounds like it would be very enjoyable! Thanks for posting.
