Projects Are Puzzling!

 Project Are Puzzling

Many people are visual learners and benefit from thinking with images. This is why our genealogy projects can often be enhanced with photographs, scans of documents and visual timelines. It motivates us to stay on track and helps to explain our work to others.

I have used this puzzle graphic in many presentations that I have given in the past. The danger in using it here is that we are so entranced by Step #1 that we can't move forward.

With so many resources at our fingertips, it is hard to plan to go out and look at documents, books and such that are "offline". This is one of my major problems. I paid a librarian to freeze in an unheated town hall finding vital record for me a few years ago. It wouldn't have done me any good to go there because the public was restricted from going where the old records were located. I keep wondering what I miss by staying home?

As I review, scan and put these vital record in my tree from my notebook, I am surprised that I have not done this before! What was I doing? Well, I was out hunting and photographing gravestones. We all have our favorite parts to our research.

If you would like to use this graphic for your own motivation, get up off the couch and download it from here!

Hi Midge, Great visual and discussion. You are a solid teacher. Very helpful for all levels of genealogy work and experience. I might add a section before research called "Define" and change define to "Refine". Just my take. Keep up your outstanding work! Bravo!
